RESIDENTIAL
THE COMMONS & LUDWICK WAY, WELWYN

Boom Construction delivered two new residential developments for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, creating 10 high-quality homes across The Commons and Ludwick Way in a densely populated residential area.
The developments feature traditional brick and block construction, with roof trusses and integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems.
As part of the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) strategy, air source heat pumps and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) was installed to boost energy efficiency and reduce carbon impact.
Operating in close proximity to local residents, Boom led a proactive community engagement strategy, including monthly letter drops, resident drop-in sessions, and face-to-face communications. This transparent approach helped minimise disruption and address concerns promptly.
The project also championed Boom’s commitment to sustainability and social values, achieving:
-
97% of construction waste diverted from landfill.
-
Energy-efficient design focused on long-term sustainability for residents.
-
Local employment and training opportunities for disadvantaged residents.
-
Partnerships with local schools to support community education.
